Sergio has over a decade of experience in a range of residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. Born in the City of Cusco, Peru and raised in the beaches of Ventura, Sergio has a strong sensitivity to the relationship between the built world and the environment.

Sergio holds a Master of Architecture from SCIARC Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), and a Bachelor’s of Science from UC Santa Cruz, with an emphasis in Hydrology and Fine Arts.   Prior to joining Vanguard , Sergio worked with internationally renowned architecture firms Gehry Partners, and Coop Himmelblau.

He enjoys the details that make a project come together and hold a harmonious balance between sketch and the built world.  Having hands on experience as a goldsmith and in construction allows him to understand the process and sequence of building to ensure the design intent is maintained.

When not in the office, Sergio enjoys spending time outside with his family. Daily dog walks on the beach in the mornings and hills in the evenings, gardening, renovating his home, getting in the ocean as much as possible, and continue to hone in his family craft as a goldsmith.
